This 1961 Austin-Healey Sprite is a fantastic example of a bugeye is driver condition, ready to hit the street. It just received nearly 20k in repairs and upgrades. Clean AZ title, ready to go.
The exterior of this little bugeye has been repainted in a generic gloss yellow. It would benefit from a good colorsanding and buff as the paint is a bit rough- being a driver. No cracks or chips in paint however. The frame is rust free, and there are no dents, apart from a slight ding on a rear bumperette. The sides have been done up a bit with some Healey livery. This Healey is fitted with the bumpers, although you can remove them. It rides on factory steelies with baby moon hubcaps.
The interior is pretty factory, with the addition of an auxiliary temp gauge mounted under the dash. The seats and side panels are in excellent condition, and carpet and floor mats are complete. Currently a very nice rollbar is fitted, along with padding, but this can be removed with a matter of bolts. Also included is a nice tonneau cover, pair of factory side windows, and the factory convertible top frame w/ a top in good shape.
Now the mechanics of this car have gotten some serious love. We had the pleasure of fully rebuilding the original 948cc A Series engine. New high compression pistons, SW5 Street Cam, Upgraded valves, Upgraded timing set, all new ACL main, rod, thrust, and cam bearings. New oil pickup, tappets, and double valve springs. The carburetors have been completely overhauled as well with genuine SU rebuild kits. The entirety of the cooling system has been replaced, and the water pump replaced with a hi-flow unit.
The ignition system has been rebuilt with all new upgraded components, and a brand new generator has also been installed. The smoothcase gearbox has also been overhauled, and received a new clutch, resurfaced flywheel, new reverse gear, new layshaft, new laygear, new 1st motion shaft, new 1st gear, new 2nd gear, and of course all new bearings and seals. The entire power unit of this vehicle has been professionally cleaned and painted also, so you can bet it looks as good underneath as up top. We also have rebuilt the entirety of the suspension system, including bushings, kingpins, track rod ends, springs, shocks absorbers, and links. All of which were painted and cleaned. New front wheel bearings were fitted, along with an entire axle rebuild down to the diff bearings. The braking system has also been revised with fresh drums, springs, wheel cylinders, and shoes, so you know it stops just as good as it goes.
Come put a smile on everyone's face and get into one of the most desirable classic British sportscars! You will have nothing but fun in this absolutely cheerful Sprite!
