This 1996 Rover Mini Cooper is an excellent base for a cafe racer type build, and is the best of both worlds, featuring a more modern shell with rubber mounted subframes and A/C, but preserving the vintage look of a Mk2 Mini with performance goodies that will turn heads.

The exterior of this Mini is in great shape, with a nice coat of gloss red paint with white roof that shines up great. The black grille matches the 12" x 5 Revolution wheels. It has been fitted with rounded group 2 arches for a wide stance, and features twin fog lamps and a center exhaust. Mk2 rear lamps and a bumper lip shave complete the retro look. Coming from Japan, there is no rust on this unit, and it seems to have had good care taken.

Inside we find a very nice backdated interior. Freshly recovered late model seats with black vinyl and red piping, along with newer door cards to match make for a comfy ride. The woodgrain dash has been fitted along with center gauges, and a Mk2 steering column with relocated switches is a nice touch. The steering wheel is a MOMO model with drivers stripe. Carpet is clean and hardware is new. The original A/C unit has also bee changed for a much more efficient and compact vintage air unit as well. 

This Mini is powered by a healthy 1275 coupled to a straight cut rod change gearbox. The original fuel injection has been removed and twin HS2 carburetors fit in it's place. Internal modifications are unknown, but it feels like it may have a mild camshaft. The exhaust has also been changed for a performance millennium center exit type for a nice throaty sound. It has had various suspension work, along with someone installing some coil springs in place of the cones, but we would recommend swapping back to cones if sticking to the street. Also consider a tuneup and maintenance package, along with our Mega-Cool cooling system upgrade if in a hot climate. If you are not a fan of the straight cut gearbox- don't let that scare you, as we can swap it for a standard one for an additional cost along with tackling any other things you may want.
