This o-ring seal is used on all A+ engines to seal the distributor shank to the block bore and also on Pre-A+ distributors to seal the shaft to the housing. If your engine sweats oil near the distributor, this is a likely cause. Often this seal is neglected as it is not included with most gasket sets.
